First Meeting

So the Sage Hill Software Development Club had its fist meeting today, and I have to say it went pretty well. There were about eight people in total which had a good mix of programmers, graphic designers, and those that wanted to learn something about software development. We started off by stating some programming languages that people knew and some software that the designers used. Being weak towards the graphic side, we decided to focus mainly on simplicity and mechanics rather than graphical appeal. We had some brainstorms for applications and games that we could develop, and all of them had a lot of variety and appeal to them.

Ruining, one of our designers, proposed an alarm clock application that would not stop unless the user does strenuous activities. This would help them from falling back asleep. However, this application would not work unless we learned to override some hardware.

Alfonso proposed a "uber for all" contracting app that provides and accepts contracts for all jobs not limited to driving or delivery. He explained that since this was providing the contract and not hiring people, it should be legally safe to create. However, there is the glaring issue of the requirement of a big community for it to be of any use or success.

I suggested a top-down scroller with open world elements. The game would be similar to a Galaga format with space stations where you  can upgrade and buy parts for your ship. This would require more graphic design than the other projects, and also the knowledge of sprite animation which I believe none of us know.
